Sports and Award Medals
Recognizing an athlete for their achievements at any level of sports is a tradition that dates back to the earliest Olympic Games, where some of the first medals were issued. The word athlete has roots in these early Olympic Games, and means “One who competes for a prize.”
Unlike traditional trophies, sports medals carry a value that is more personal to the athlete that receives it. Sports medals can be worn or displayed in more creative ways than a trophy which requires more space and can be awkward to display.
The Joshua Connection sports medals can also be custom stamped, using team or league related logos and text that is a permanent part of the award, and not a label that is pressed to the base of an award with adhesive.
Die Struck Custom Medals
A die is cut to the image of your design (repeat orders save on this step!). Your image is stamped on the sheet of iron or copper. Cutting molds are made separately, and the pins are cut out to the outline of the design shape. Plating is done next: for this type of pin the most common plating is gold-on-gold, but other metal platings such as silver and black nickel are available. The raised metal surfaces are then highly polished to a luster finish, while recessed areas are left with a sandblasted look.
